The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) was founded in 1960. It is an international institution aimed at promoting integration and development among its founding countries: Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. It has currently two headquarters, one in Tegucigalpa (Honduras) and another one in San Salvador (El Salvador). Besides it has national offices in every country of Central America. On December 13, 1960, what is today known as Central American economic integration materializes and begins. This year the General Treaty on Central America Economic Integration was signed.
